Laser Hair Removal in London
Clinically proven method for permanent hair reduction
What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a clinically proven method for permanent hair reduction that uses targeted laser energy to reduce unwanted hair growth by damaging the hair follicle at its root. The laser energy is absorbed by melanin (pigment) in the hair, which is then converted to heat and disrupts the follicle’s ability to produce new hair.
Laser hair removal is suitable for both the face and body, and can significantly improve conditions such as ingrown hairs, irritation, folliculitis, and pigmentation associated with shaving.
At Ace Skin Health Clinic, laser hair removal is performed as a series of treatments, carefully planned to target hair during its active growth phase (anagen). This allows progressive, long-term hair reduction while protecting the surrounding skin.

Laser Hair Removal Options at Ace Skin Health Clinic
Moveo Technology™ : Faster, Safer & Virtually Painless
Moveo Technology™ represents a significant advancement in laser hair removal. Instead of delivering a single high-energy pulse, the laser energy is delivered gradually using a multipass technique. This allows the hair follicle to be heated progressively while protecting the surrounding skin. This advanced technology also helps minimise common side effects such as irritation, redness and pigmentation changes, while delivering faster, more consistent results.
Treatment is delivered through a 20 mm integrated sapphire contact cooling tip, which provides continuous cooling throughout the procedure. Combined with ultra-short pulse durations of approximately 2 milliseconds, this approach significantly reduces discomfort while achieving excellent clinical results. Many clients describe the sensation as gentle warmth rather than the sharp heat associated with traditional laser systems, making treatments suitable even for sensitive areas.
Alexandrite Laser (755 nm)
The Alexandrite wavelength is widely regarded as the gold standard for laser hair removal in lighter skin tones. It works by efficiently targeting melanin within the hair follicle, making it particularly effective for light to medium skin tones with dark hair.
At Ace Skin Health Clinic, Alexandrite laser treatments are commonly selected for larger body areas such as the legs, arms and back, as well as facial hair.
Nd:YAG Laser (1064 nm)
The Nd:YAG wavelength penetrates deeper into the skin and is the safest option for medium to darker skin tones. Because it bypasses surface melanin, it significantly reduces the risk of burns and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, making it suitable for pigment-prone or sensitive skin.
Nd:YAG laser hair removal is particularly effective for coarse hair and hormonally influenced hair growth, such as that associated with PCOS. This wavelength allows safe treatment of skin types unsuitable for Alexandrite laser alone, without compromising results.
Treatment Areas
Common treatment areas include:
- Chest and abdomen
- Face (upper lip, chin, jawline, cheeks)
- Underarms
- Arms
- Legs
- Bikini
- Back and shoulders
How Laser Hair Removal Works
At Ace Skin Health Clinic, we use one of the most advanced medical-grade laser platforms available: the Lynton DEKA Moveo (Motus AY) laser platform, which features advanced technology for safe and effective treatment on all skin tones. This dual-wavelength system combines Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers with FDA-approved Moveo Technology, allowing us to treat all skin tones and hair types safely, comfortably, and effectively.
During treatment, a medical-grade laser emits a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. This light energy is converted into heat, which damages the hair follicle and inhibits its ability to regrow. Settings are adjusted according to skin tone, hair type, treatment area, and sensitivity, ensuring effective hair reduction while prioritising skin safety and comfort.

FAQs
At Ace Skin Health Clinic, we believe informed clients achieve the best results. These FAQs cover the most common questions about our approach, safety standards, and treatment process, so you can book with confidence and clarity.
Still have questions?
Get in touch with our team and we will answer all of your questions before you book a session.
Is laser hair removal safe for dark skin?
Yes. At Ace Skin Health Clinic, we use the Motus AY laser with Moveo technology, specifically designed to safely treat all skin tones, including darker and tanned skin. Your consultation allows us to tailor the settings precisely to your skin for safe, effective treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
Most clients require a course of 6–8 sessions for optimal results. Hair grows in cycles, and laser treatment can only target hair in its active growth phase. You may notice reduced regrowth after the first few treatments, but results improve progressively with each session. Long-term maintenance treatments may be recommended, particularly for hormonally influenced hair growth.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as mild warmth or a light flicking feeling on the skin. The Moveo handpiece uses continuous motion and integrated cooling, making treatment much more comfortable than traditional laser systems, even in sensitive areas.
Can laser hair removal help with ingrown hairs?
Yes. Laser hair removal is one of the most effective treatments for ingrown hairs and folliculitis. By targeting the hair at the root and reducing regrowth, it helps prevent hairs from becoming trapped beneath the skin and significantly improves skin texture over time.
Is there any downtime after treatment?
There is little to no downtime. Mild redness or bumpiness, similar to a light sunburn, is normal and usually subsides within a few hours. We advise avoiding heat, saunas, steam rooms, and intense exercise for up to three days after treatment to allow the skin to settle fully.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal provides long-term hair reduction, not permanent removal. Treated hairs grow back finer, lighter, and more slowly, and many follicles stop producing hair altogether. Occasional maintenance sessions may be needed to maintain the results.
Can I have laser hair removal if I have sensitive skin?
Yes. Laser hair removal is often suitable for sensitive skin, especially when using advanced systems such as Motus AY. The cooling technology and gradual energy delivery help to minimise irritation. During your consultation, we assess your skin and adjust the treatment approach accordingly.
What should I avoid before and after treatment?
Before treatment, avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, waxing, and plucking for at least four weeks. Shaving is permitted. After treatment, avoid heat, saunas, steam rooms, and active skincare until advised. Daily SPF is essential to protect the skin and reduce the risk of pigmentation.
