Scar & Acne Scar Treatment in London
Improve acne scars, surgical scars and stretch marks with expert-led regenerative treatments
Modern regenerative treatments can soften the appearance of scars, support healthier tissue and help the skin rebuild itself over time
Scarring can take many forms, from acne marks that linger long after breakouts have healed, to surgical or injury scars, and stretch marks that appear during growth, pregnancy or weight changes. While scars are a natural part of the skin’s healing process, they can affect texture, tone and confidence.
At ACE Skin Health Clinic, we create personalised plans designed to gradually smooth, refine and strengthen scarred skin using advanced, non-surgical technologies.
About SCARS
Understanding Scarring
When the skin goes into repair mode post injury, a scar forms as a result of the collagen fibres the body produces as it heals. How that collagen arranges itself determines the type of scar you see on the surface.
Atrophic scars – often caused by acne – sit below the skin’s surface because collagen production was not sufficient during healing. These include ice-pick scars, boxcar scars and rolling scars, each with slightly different shapes and depths. Ice-pick scars are narrow and deep, boxcar scars have defined edges, and rolling scars create a wave-like texture.
Other scars, such as post-surgical or traumatic scars, may appear raised, firm or more fibrous. Stretch marks (striae) develop when the skin stretches quickly and the deeper layers tear, leading to long, narrow lines that start red or purple before fading to white.
Every scar behaves differently. That’s why an accurate assessment is key in order to understand the type, depth and age of the scar before creating a treatment plan.
How We Treat Scarring
Scar treatment is most effective when we combine collagen-stimulating procedures with regenerative actives and supportive skincare. Your plan will be tailored to your skin type, tone, scar pattern and how your skin typically heals.
RF Microneedling
One of the most effective options for acne scarring and deeper textural irregularities, RF microneedling uses tiny needles and radiofrequency energy to remodel collagen in the deeper layers of the skin. This helps soften indents, improve firmness and gradually smooth uneven areas. It’s particularly effective for rolling and boxcar scars.
Microneedling with Transdermal Infusion
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering collagen production and improving texture over time. We pair this with targeted serums, such as growth factors, brightening actives or hydrating complexes, to support repair and encourage healthier tissue formation. It can help reduce mild to moderate acne scarring and stretch marks.
Chemical Peels
Medical-grade chemical peels help remove damaged surface cells, revealing newer and more even skin beneath. By accelerating cell turnover and smoothing texture, peels can soften superficial acne scarring and support overall clarity.
Exosomes
Exosomes contain powerful signalling molecules that support regeneration, calm inflammation and encourage more organised collagen formation. When combined with microneedling or RF microneedling, they can enhance healing and improve both new and older scars.
Polynucleotides
These naturally regenerative molecules help repair damaged tissue, improve hydration and support collagen synthesis. Polynucleotides can be especially helpful for indented scars and stretch marks that need strengthening from within.
HIFU
High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound is used selectively for deeper atrophic scarring or areas where the skin has lost firmness. It delivers focused energy into the deeper layers, helping to tighten and support tissue beneath the scar.
Microdermabrasion
A gentle resurfacing treatment that buffs away dead skin cells and smooths rough texture. While not suitable for deep scarring, it works well as part of an ongoing plan for mild surface irregularities or stretch marks.
Laser Resurfacing
Advanced laser technology can help break down damaged tissue, reduce redness in newer scars and stimulate the formation of fresh collagen. It’s particularly useful for mixed acne scarring patterns and surgical scars on the face and body.
Scar Revision Skincare
A tailored at-home routine helps maintain progress between treatments. This may include retinoids, pigment inhibitors, hydration support and barrier-repair products to promote even healing and minimise future scarring.
Results
Scarring improves gradually as new collagen forms. Some people notice a smoother and more even complexion after a few sessions, while deeper or longstanding scars require a longer course of treatment. With consistency and the right combination approach, scars soften, texture becomes more refined and skin gradually appears clearer and more uniform.

Still have questions?
Get in touch with our team and we will answer all of your questions before you book a session.
What causes acne scars?
Acne scars form when inflammation damages the surrounding tissue and the skin creates too little collagen during healing.
Can all scars be treated?
Most scars can be improved significantly, although older or deeper scars may require multiple treatment modalities for the best results.
Do treatments work on darker skin tones?
Yes. We select technologies and settings that are safe and effective for melanin-rich skin, protecting against pigment changes.
How long do results take?
Scarring improves over weeks to months as collagen remodelling is gradual. Your plan will outline expected timelines based on the type of scars you have.
Can stretch marks be removed?
Complete removal isn’t possible. However, modern treatments can reduce their visibility substantially.
Are the treatments painful?
Most treatments involve mild to moderate discomfort, but we use topical numbing where needed to keep you comfortable.
